having hunted, worked, and lived in Ak for the last 3 years, I can tell you that those two were very lucky people. Black bears are by far more dangerous than Grizzlys because of their curious nature. Grizz punish humans for scaring them or sneeking up on them, Blacks will stalk you for over a mile before you know they are there, deciding wether or not they want to find out what you taste like.

After that the pungent smell of soiled drawers would've repelled any more bears from me after that.

Nope, we would both not have been in the tree that long. It would have either been me or him leaving.

David - I was hoping someone would be somewhat of an expert, because as I saw the bear climb the tree, my VERY first thought/question was..."What the heck should they do now?"

If it were you (I ask, because I'd be jumping to my death....LOL), would you have released an arrow into the vitals? Made a loud noise as he rushed the tree? OR...do as these two STUD's did, and just wait it out?

BTW....these two dudes were "unbelievably" cool under pressure. I give them credit for not squealing like a school girl!!!
