yesterday I put a thread in the classified section looking for a Remington 597 for my 8 y/o daughter Paige. Paige had saved up enough money to buy a good used one and i had already bought an ArchAngel conversion kit to make it look like an AR and give it the adjustable stock that Paige needs to fit her. I quickly got a PM from charrell71 stating he had one for sale and he offered it for a fair price. Today we got together and he an his wife offered to drive halfway to meet Paige and I even though they were under no obligation to do so. They were the sellers doing us a favor by selling.
On the way there, Paige asked me how much he was asking and I told her. She had enough money, but wouldn't have any left over for a cheap reddot scope. She said "do you think he'd take less?" I told her that she'd have to ask him, that there is nothing wrong with negotiating, but if he said no deal then she'd have to decide whether or not she really wanted it.
We get to the meeting place and Chris and his wife get out to greet us and show Paige the gun. It was not only the gun, but included a cheap scope, a plastic case and nearly a brick of .22 rounds. I introduced Paige and she asked Chris how much he wanted. He told her what he was asking. My eight year old daughter then proceeded to offer him $10 less than he was asking...."cash" she said. He smiled and said, "I can do that.". He made Paige a smokin deal and made her feel great in the process. I can't say enough good things about Chris. Just a GREAT guy! Thank you Chris!!! You made a little girls day!
