    Anyone know anything about saddles?

My wife was given a handmade saddle probably 20 yrs ago and this thing has never been on horse. It has some minor wear, but is still in excellent condition.
Made by Courts Saddlery in Bryan, Tx.

And yes... It's sitting on a yeti.

I would be interested in selling it, but I'd like to know what it's worth. The toolmanship on here is very nice! I've got additional pics if needed.

    Thanks,
    Lee

Without the stains, i'd guesstimate approximately $2,750

Wow! that`s nice bro, a pleasure saddle like that is something not less than 400 and perhaps even up to 600 dls for all that tooled work and trims besides the good care you had with it, seems like it had water splash that can be solved with some leather cream.

I forgot to say that if it`s a roping saddle you could get twice as much for it since the saddle horn and components like stirrups etc. are way different than those used in pleasure riding saddles, riding saddles aren`t so expensive.

Talked to a buddy of mine who is a team roper he said you could get around 550 to 650

It's a barrel racing saddle and probably in the 6-750 range is pretty reasonable considering the stains but looks to b in good shape and it IS NOT a roping saddle

Thank`s for your feedback bro, I tought it was a pleasure riding saddle and I just let iglidewell know that a roping saddle is more expensive than a trail one.

A barrel racing then, still a little difficullt for me to see the difference.

That is definitely a Barrel saddle. Courts builds some nice saddles.
I'd try to sell it to an individual who's in the market for one in order to get the best price.....in todays market it's hard to get fair prices when selling.
Last month I listed 3 nice, custom made saddles on the big auction site and never even got the first bid......times are tough right now.
There is a weekly horse, saddle & tack sale here every Saturday......I doubt the saddle would be bring $350.00 right now at places like this.....finding someone needing a barrel saddle is your best best.

                            This^^

Definitely a barrel saddle. Try craigslisting it. But you may have better luck putting it on consignment at a saddle shop at a good price and being very patient- waiting for someone that LOVES it and is willing to drop a big dime on it.

I live next to a saddle shop in Meadows Texas that would turn that around easy for 1,000+ and new at 2,500 - 3,000 unless I'm missing something - very possible. See if you can take it by a shop and maybe do consignment if needed (you could call tacksas - I'll look up the right name and hit ya back)
