Lincoln movie...did you like?

I took my entire family & MIL/FIL to see it today.
It was long but worth the time investment. I liked the story line & acting too.
Other thoughts?

We saw it last night! My wife's 2nd time seeing it as I was at Hagerman over the weekend.
1.) We gave it a 8 out of possible 10 rating.
2.) It re-confirmed how dysfunctional our elected officals "were" and still "are"!!!!
3.) It was good to do some research and learn that it was historically correct and factual.
4.) It also did a masterful job of showing both sides of the issue's related to the civil war.

We saw it last weekend. Went to one of those fancy places where you sit in a lazy boy and they give you a warm blanket. Spent way too much.

I thought the acting was well done across the board.

I thought the script was flat in areas but I understand they were attempting to tie together events that were spread out over months into a movie.

I found the gang of three very, funny especially when Jame Spader was telling about the one congressman trying to kill him.

I also liked the play between the Lincolns. From what I've read that was a fairly accurate portrayal of their relationship and character. They were madly in love but were stubborn, hard headed and could get a good fight going when they felt the need.

3.5 out of 5 stars.

The wife and I agree with the broader scope portion of your post. I guess with the biggest topic of the day being that issue that was the primary focus of the movie. Your point on profanity is actually misplaced. The same words we use today were very prevalent during that timeframe. To be honest I don't guess we noticed much profanity in the movie at all.

They did answer a question I had about Thadeus Sevens. He was bald. I never could figure out how a guy so old looking in his pictures could have perfect hair.

Well we went to the theater today and were gonna watch lincoln, but decided to watch skyfall instead. Had some friends tell us about lincoln and say it wasnt factual at all but it was really good. I guess facts/history is subjective anyway, lol...

Thanks for the review 32drawlength- we might go watch it tomorrow night. The previews def looked good.
