    Hunting Kansas

I'm determined to hunt Kansas next year. What are some of the better units to hunt?

Getting better. Deep fish turning on. There's not a bad unit in ks except extreme NW and they're not "bad" just low numbers of whitetail.

If given a choice, this would be my top list....

            #1- Unit 16-Barber County preferably
            #2- Unit 14-Butler County preferably
            #3- Unit 5, 6 or 15

Just about any unit you can get drawn in will be good.

Aint no deer in Ks, haven't ya heard!!!
I hunt south central and love it. Been up in north central to northeast Ks and it's beautiful country up there as well. Never been east of 35 so I can't say. SW Ks, where I bird hunt, not much cover. Guess a lot depends on how long a drive you want.

You guys use outfitters? Family land? Cold calling on farm houses?

Both places I have been invited to hunt were invites from landowners... One of them through a friend and the other is a Guy I work with, his family has a farm there but I haven't been able to hunt there yet due to the regulations on non resident tags... If the two units joined it would be golden but they don't!

                          I use a outfitter.
One, I don't have time to scout public land. I only get a week out of the year to go. I want to make the best of it.
Two, I don't have to worry about meals. Most of those small towns only have one place to eat and they may be closed by the time you get in.
Three, I usually get a farm that nobody else has hunted yet. Makes a big difference if deer have been pressured or not.
Four, when he charges me half the price for his hunts, why not!!
