    What's the best stand???

I'm thinking about building a couple of new deer blinds, which let me to some questions...

What's cheaper, to build or buy? Which is better?

If I do get one, or build, what size?

If I buy, which one is best without having to take a mortgage on it?

Thanks for any thoughts yall may have. I have a wife and two young boys, so they will be used from now on.

I personally prefer the big game stands for ladder stands and Gorilla for hang on stands. Both are pretty reasonably priced.

Cheaper to build. Or get in touch with one of the local HS AG shops & work something out.

No question I would rather buy a tree stand rather than nail some boards to a tree. I was just wondering if any of you had any thoughts on box blinds that a couple of people could hunt out of, or that you could shoot a bow out of.

          Thanks yall!

4X4 here. I built mine out of 1x2 frame and used particle board. Windows are made of plexi glass. Built it 4 years ago and it's holding up nice. Think I spend maybe a little over 100 bucks but it's nice. My buddy calls it condo blind because I built shelves into it to hold drinks and food. It's comphy with the right office chair bolted to it.

If we are talking about bow/tree stands and tripods and such. By the time you have it all done it will be cheaper to buy one and make some mods to make it what you want. Been there and done that. Granted that mine will prolly never break, but by the time I bought the steel, cut the steel, bent the steel, welded the steel, stretched the steel, drilled holes in the steel and bought the pins for the legs(for tear down and easy transport), made the seat fit right, etc. I could have went to my favorite outdoors store and bought the one I liked most and made the mods I wanted and been hunting for less money.

I build my own blinds. 5 x 5 is.the perfect size for 1 person in an office chair. I also put up varpet on walls and.shelves anf have plexi sliders. I put base on blind elevators with 12' four x fours. Have yet to find anything like this prebuilt under a grand. I typically have 500 - 700 tied up in mine. Got one sprayed with sprsy insulation. You talk about warm - downside is dang near need a window unit on days ovet 75. I also build mine with modular walls and roof so they can be moved by one person.

Heare are a couple that I have built over the last two years. Lots of hard work but they didn't cost as much as you think. The smaller one was around $1200-$1300.00 if I remember correctly. You can spend that on a fiberglass with an elevated stand.

I know these aren't for everybody but when it's freezing rain, driving rain, snow, or the coldest day of the year, they sure are worth the effort. Hunting during the early season, they are about 20 degrees cooler than outside.

its cheaper to make up a box blind yourself. a 4x5 or 6 works best. 150.00 is the area to have a well built long lasting box. now the tree stand may get a different take on that. buy it. you can really get hurt if you dont get it right the first time.

Cheaper to build and you get exactly what u want. My primary bow blind is a 8x7 box with the front like a bay window.

I like 4x6 for 2 ppl. You can save a little (and cut weight) by ripping 2x4s and calling around the sheathing plants looking to buy their culls for siding.
