    Refrigerator question

Decided to clean my freezer yesterday on our side by side. Had door open for about 45 minutes cleaning and an hour or so after I finished when I went to put everything back in I noticed it wasn't working. This morning everything in the fridge portion was warm as well. Did I burn something up by having the door open that long? It's about an 10 year old unit from Sears.

You did not burn anything up by having the door open. Too coincidental that it stopped working though. Maybe a wire came out somewhere. Can you hear the compressor running?

this may seem dumb, but you didn't turn the temp controll down to zero when cleaning it did you. i've got one that the control is right inside the door and if i am not careful, can bump it to the off position when reaching inside.

I forgot to mention you could have iced over the coil with the door open that long. If it has an electric defrost it should be able to knock off the ice with a defrost or two. If the compressor is running check to see if the freezer coil is iced up. You may need to defrost the coil.

My guy uses a lawn blower to defrost the coils.

Coils weren't froze and temps were set right. The fans were blowing but the compressor was not working. Wife decided on a new Samsung tonight!
