Ozona rut is on or close

My son had a nice 10pt hazing a young doe this morning at the Ozona bow only lease this morning. Unfortunately, he didn't get the shot. I rattled up a young 6pt. this evening. Looks like the chase is on.

our rut doesnt get in full swing for almost 2 weeks.

Shaft slinger, while that's normally true I already have bucks chasing. And fighting. Got a pic a few days ago of a decent 8 with a tine completely broke already. Rubs and scrapes everywhere. It's rolling pretty good. Should hit wide open in the next week for sure

we always have some deer rut early but in the last 6 years this has been my experience. All i can figure is it has something to do with being split 50/50 wt and mule deer. the mule deer dont rut until mid to late december, well after mule deer season ends.

I used to hunt Pecos county just west of the Crocket county line, for most years the whitetail rut usually started around the 5th of Dec.and the Muley's after Christmas or around New Year's eve after the season was over

when i hunted Ozona, the hard core crazy rut, bucks acting stupid was always from Thanksgiving week to December 1
