    deer tagging question

    here is a dilema!!

i shot the buck in my avatar a week after bow season started.... theres one tag in the 2 buck county i hunt

last monday i shot a bigger buck was unable to find him after hours and hours of hard searching....there is a good chance he is alive based on where i hit him (high shoulder very very very very little blood and dark blood at that)

so my question is.... if i shoot another buck, likely a cull, but then i find this deer what in the world would i do?!

im not planning on shooting another buck but i do plan to smack another doe for some jerky and if a freaky cull buck comes in or another big deer i may want to shoot it.... but i dont believe i can especially since id need to have the tag available in case i find the buck i wounded dead

any idea? btw im still sick about losing that deer from a terrible shot i made got excited and rushed it.. i knew better i was ready to hang it up for the year right then and there but that wouldnt help matters lol

I say shoot another deer but first get some more practice.

Lol. I hope that was sarcasm. I shoot very good. It happens. I've shot a lot of deer and it's bound to happen sooner or later.

At what point can you get the horns from a deer you lost without tagging? I don't wanna get in trouble for not tagging him if I find him. He is likely all bones by now.

I would say contact the local Game Warden and get their opinion. Sorry to hear that happened, but like you said, it does happen. Even to those who are seasoned hunters and are Good Shots.. Losing a deer is never a good thing. Does not matter if it is a doe or a trophy. It makes me sick to my stomach to not be able to find one..

its no different then finding a skull out in the field while hunting. Dont worry about it.

              Shoot you a cull man
