    Question about Eagle Pass TX

Someone who had a good understanding of Eagle Pass needs to help me understand something.
I own a real estate company. The MLS (multiple listing service) that I use includes about 80 offices from various parts of the state. At the end of each year I pull the figures for all the companies on our MLS and look to see how we compared and also how others have done. For the ones that have done well, I look up their locations just to see if I can figure out what made their market so good. Anyhow, for the last couple of years, an office in Eagle Pass TX has been up in the top three producers the last couple of years. I finally looked to see where Eagle Pass TX was and realized it is a border town.
Now first let me say I don't know a darn thing about Eagle Pass TX but I have to say my first thoughts were that Cartel is buying up the land accross the border so that they can sneak people, drugs, and guns back and forth much easier. This may not be the case but can someone tell me why people are buying a lot of property in Eagle Pass?
(other than the giant deer someone posted today that was killed there)

I have liveed in Eagle Pass all my life (39 years) and all I can say is due to the situation in Mexico many people /families are moving into Eagle Pass and all the way up to San Antonio, TX to get away from the violence and gun fights that are happening in the streets of Mexico. Now I can't tell you that all the people that come to buy houses in Eagle Pass are corrupted Or saints but I know some people and they are hard working individuals who want to live in a safe environment, especially those with young families. It is really getting bad in Me ico and if I were in their shoes, I would do the same.
