Baldy and some others hit-it, pre climb it and mark the tree.

You can also use a limb on your tree, a nearby tree, a knot, or even a stripe or marking on the bark for height reference. But climbing in the dark is no different than daylight, as stated above. Just go slow and take your time, making sure to set your seat and platform with each stroke.

I put a bubble level on my seat and platform to help me get both of them positioned correctly. It comes in especially handy in the dark.

Like others said. Make a climb in the daylight. I put orange flagging tape around the tree as a marker. Its visable without a light.

I climb faster and quieter in the dark because I am not looking around for deer. Never climb a tree for the first time in the dark, you'll be pi$$ed once it gets daylight.

I know how long the rope I use to pull up my bow is, when it gets tight I stop climbing.

My climber with cables can be hung on the tree and climbed to hunting height 100% with no light. My climber with chains requires light to get hung on the tree.

Both climb fine in the dark.

I use a tree strap and attach to my safety harness. I leave it in tree and this also serves a marker for correct height.

Did it this morning and will do it again tomorrow morning. Once you've climbed enough trees with it, it'll be like second nature to you.
