Been lingering for a while. Trying to get back in the sport. My son is old enough now and is very interested in shooting. I bought a Mathews MQ-32 new in 98. Every Friday night I would shoot the Dart system and every Sunday at some 3D targets for over two years. In the last ten years things have changed a lot. I have a few question about equipment I'm seeing. First I see a lot of people using 3" vanes. Why is that? Weight over 4". Also I see people using Beman arrows. I know there use to be signs at ranges prohibiting them. Have they changed? I need even tried them because of the signs. Now rests. I have a golden key platinum premier. I like the idea of the whisker biscuit for my son. Are there any draw backs for a youth with a whisker biscuit? Sorry so long. Just trying to see what goodies I've been missing out on. Thanks

Most people shooting compounds want lightest and fastest least resistance arrow they can safely shoot from their bow. Biscuits work great but kinda defeats that theory. I still love Em keep reading on different topics from kills to equipment I did and learned a lot from these people. Some are dead set what they have or shoot is the best. From what I have read you will pick up about 3 or so of the most common in each Bows, Broadheads ,rest ,arrows, releases, etc. they will stand out. All brands work lots of proof by all the trophies on here. Good luck to you and your son.

I started with a biscuit and 4" veins shooting a diamond razor edge. I found that my shots weren't as consistant, still good but not great. I harvested the buck in my avatar using a biscuit and 4" vein eastons with that diamond.
I've upgraded all this past year and shoot way more consistant with 3" vein bemans, a qad drop away rest, and my matthews helim.
just my 2cents =)
