    DSLR camera question

The wife was looking at the Black Friday ads and saw two different cameras that are going to be for sale. The cannon T3 and the Nikon D3000. The both come in a package with an extra lense and for the same price. Are there any major differences between the two or both about the same. And which would you recommend? Thanks

To me they are the same. That kind of camera is lots of money for lots of quality. Write down a short list of things you want new camera to do - then verify the new camera will do it. Also if you like the menus and overall function of the camera you will be good to go.

    Ford or Chevy.

t3i shoots 1080 video, i dont think the t3 does and the t3i also has a higher megapixel rating.

The Canon package will have a non Image Stabilized(IS) telescopic lense. The Nikon package will have vibratio reduction(VR) lense. I would go with the Nikon for that reason. A good image stabilized Canon tele lense with be atleast $350.

          Very similar in features.

I shoot Nikon and honestly, I think Canon is a more user friendly camera for the just starting out photographer.

Once you know cameras and understand manual adjustments on the fly, either brand will suit you well.

And don't get caught up in the megapixels. You will never see the difference between 30mp and 12mp unless you're blowing a picture up to 8 ft plus.

I'm selling a complete package nikon 3100 newer version of d3000 with both lenses, camera bag n battery charger. Bought it two yrs ago for $900 n now $525. Still in great condition.

Either one is going to be comparable, though I shoot Canon myself. Because the brands compete so well, they're both putting out high quality products and will keep producing improvements.

My piece of advice though, either camera you get, buy a introductory level 50mm prime lens to go with the camera. The kit lenses are honestly pretty lame and their quality leaves a lot to be desired. You'll find yourself enjoying the pictures produced by the 50mm lens a lot more.
