Oops! Found something I lost in the woods.

After work today decided to ride the wheeler through the woods and look for any scrape activity to put out some cams. Find one on one side of the property and place a cam and then drive over to the other side of the property and nothing so I decide to make a mock scrape and put up a camera. Get that done and I'm close to a fenceline that deer walk down so I clear some brush with my Javelina machete' and see something in the leaves and there is my Nikon 440 rangefinder! I guess I lost it last year crossing the fence when I had snuck up on some ducks in the pond on the other side! I didn't even know it was missing as I havn't hunted but once this season (yesterday) and didn't really think I would need it at that particular setup.

Ok, it now doesn't work! I put new batteries in ( maybe they drained in storage) but NOTHING!

Anybody ever send anything to Nikon for repairs? Until I can afford the new Vortex rangefinder...

MAn if they are anything like Leupold you are screwed. Mine got wet one time and I mean very little. IT was in my pants pocket when we got a good rain and it quit. They basickly told me it was out of warrenty and I would have to pay 245 for a new one. I got it but I will be getting the Vortex one soon myself

Yup, twice for me. One was my $100 fkashlight last year, and a pair of Oakleys that I dropped and found 2 months later on a trail by a creek.

It's worth a call to see. Ask them and see what they say.

I had to send mine to Nikon and it wasn't free - cheaper than a new one though. Academy may exchange it they didn't carry my model. No receipt needed.
