    9mm is big enough!

Friend of mine works construction all over the state and was carrying his bags into his motel room in Dallas last night when a couple guys pulled up in an SUV and told him they had something he needed. He politely told them he didn't need anything and they put the SUV in park and got out. He pulled his 9mm from his bag so they could see it and told them again he didn't need anything. They said yeah you right, you don't need nothing, and got back in their vehicle and left.
    Glad he was carrying.

Maybe they were selling cologne or gold chains???

Or, they could have been selling an arse whooping. Pretty ballsy to pull on someone, but I wasn't there and I might have done the same. Protect yourself !

Let's just say it was one of those situations that was falling apart pretty quick and where you know that you know that the 2 guys getting out of the vehicle are not there for anything good.

Lets see: Friday night and a lot of folks traveling for the weekend; he was carrying his bags in; two fellers pull up try to lure him to their vehicle; they get out after being told he didn't need anything; he let them know he was armed; they get back in and leave.

Glad it didn't go any further. But I venture to say they were up to no good. Had they got within "touching" distance, he could have been in real trouble, and they could have also.

Carrying your bags (and valuables) into your room is what most travelers do because you don't want your vehicle broke into. And being from out of town as most motel guest are, those fellers prob knew that and were trying to prey on some poor sole. This transition from vehicle to room, with your arms/hands full, is prob the most critical time for a traveler.

That appears to by the appropriate action to me Tmag. Good call on your buddies part in recognizing the situation and not letting it escalate.

Tmag, here is where the old saying really applies: "An ounce of prevention is worth more than a pound of cure"....or something along those lines.

I am glad your friend had the street saavy to immidiately see right thru them, and act immidiately.

Good call. Glad they took the second "hint" to leave.

I got approached by 3 guys selling apple iPads in Dallas, they started getting out of their car as I drove off later that evening I was watching the news and saw that they were selling sheets of plexiglass that was bubble wrapped in iPad boxes. Im glad it went ok it could of been a lot worse if he didn't react like he did.
