Livestock - maybe some sort of goat/sheep

I have 22 acres I run cattle on. I sold them due to the lack of grass, but now I have thigh high grass/weeds. I was going to buy more cows, but they seem expensive now so I was thinking about getting something cool. Maybe getting some Corsican or dall or something else that would be neet and be worth some money when I sell them.

What ideas do you have? Where would I buy these near Ft. Worth?

Cattle will cost more when you buy them but sell for more when you sell them. There is no sign that the beef market will weaken anytime soon.

The market for mini horses has collapsed. People are giving them away.

There's a guy on Upper Denton Rd in Weatherford that has goats. I think I've seen a for sale sign there. It is about 5 miles NE of the courthouse near the intersection of Upper Denton and Trailwood.

Do you have a good neighbor? If so, put in a gate and let them rotate cattle on and off periodically. It will keep your AG and can manage the pasture growth as well without the expense and hassle of owning the critters!

My fences are getting weak near the bottom. I know the goats would get out, but when I use to have them they would only get out when the grass got thin on our side. I have 6' chain link around 15 acres of it.

My last cows were long horns because they couldn't get through any type of fence with those horns.

I thought about asking the neighbor if he wanted to run his cattle on there for a while. He has his on dirt. He would have to move them 1/2 mile down the road, but it is a straight shot.

I like the idea of goats over cattle because I have been called home from a Colorado Elk hunt when my herd was in the city impound. If it would have been goats, I would have said they weren't mine. If a goat gets out when I am at work, who cares the neighbor will get an exotic while hunting that night, but if it is a cow, it is big bucks.
