How much $ for high fence?

I've got about 2500' of highway frontage fence that needs replacing. The rest of the property is low fenced and in good condition. There is some brush clearing involved, but not too heavy. Got one quote so far of $4.40/linear ft. Is this a good price? What have some of you paid for fencing recently? Thanks!

There was a long thread on here a few months ago (post crash) about pricing on fencing. You may search for it or some folks may chime in!

I remember that thread and it seams like they were talking in the $30-$50K per mile range (YIKES)....if that is true $4.40/linear ft sounds like a good price.

10k a mile and if you have alot of rock it goes up to 15k a mile.

We fenced our property a little over a year ago......and paid about $3.35 per linear foot. $20K per mile is a fair estimate, on average. This price included staytite wire (2096-6) and a line post every 100 ft. or so.

We just completed a deer pen and paid the same price last month, so it hasn't changed that much in the past year.

When getting a quote, be sure and get all of the details. Wire is different, T-posts are different, number of t-posts and line posts vary by fence builder, etc.

Yep, the devil is in the details, as stated above.

I would say in the 15-20k range per mile.

I believe it also depends on how much money the fence guy thinks you have.

Deal with them on the phone, or drive an old beater truck to meet him - far away from the nice ranch house and don't let him see that $25,000 rock front gate you got

We just got a quote for some land we own in Junction and it was $5.50 per linear foot! We have about 2000 feet of road frontage to do!

Cuatro seemed to be the cheapest when comparing apples to apples - he's at least neat and clean -

I think Qzilla used him a time or two.

Low fence using ranch wire is ~$10,000 per mile......High fence is usually
1 1/2 times that....depending how much clearing is needed can increase that amount...if it is in rock that will require drilling to set post , that increases the price...too many varibles to give a ball park figure...

I just had LE Fence Company(Phone# 254-709-9419) out at our place last week doing water gap repairs. I think he said he was charging around the mid $3 range. They did a great job and I would highly recommend them
Here is one of the gaps they repaired for me. We had 3 get knocked down during the floods this Summer.

Its probably higher than 10k per mile nowadays...(BUT) some of these guys work extremely fast...beware..you (might?) or will feel ripped off if over see the whole process, but there is a reason you use a specialist when it comes to fencing or high fencing. You want it to last. I came soo close to doing one myself but I am way better off that I let an expert handle it. That looks like really good work there TYE

Yeah, the terrain is pretty rocky. It's in Real Co., 'bout halfway between Leakey and Junction on hwy 83. It would definitely require some drilling for post setting. There's also a gas pipeline that the fence crosses over. I wonder if there are any special requirements, besides a gate, when fencing over a pipeline. The gate thats there now seems to be in fairly good condition. I'll probably end up calling them and ask a few questions.
Thanks for all the info fellas! Please keep it coming.

That's not gonna withstand water when it floods that creek, putting deb-re up in the fence. That's why you put conveyor belts flaps up so water flows through it easier.
