I finally made a trip out to the Diamond C opening weekend for rifle! Tim aka "malky102" and a friend of his Will with his 10 year-old son "boo" were also there. After our handshakes and introductions while stepping over a random snake coming through (yes a "harmless" snake). we met up with Skylar and lucy to go over the rules. After an evening hunt with a miss on a hog by me and a some huge african animal giving me the scare. Will came in with a nice hog. On the drive to pick up everyone from the stands we got to see SO MANY animals around the woods while our flashlights. This place is like a zoo with animals on the menu. The next morning Tim put the smack down on an Axis doe and I watched a lot of animals eat up the corn. I decided to eat some lunch and head back in around 12:30 to get some hunting done. Tubby had told me of his monster fallow and which is something I have wanted to kill since i first saw a picture. Skylar told me a pretty big one had been around the stand while he was riding through so I was excited to see (no not Tubby's, but I did tell Tubby that if i killed his fallow I would split the head with him
So a couple of white fallows and a chocolate came in from earlier then off to my right came in the big one. Man what a rack and body on this guy. He was very spooky and it took some ninja like silence to shift around to get an open window on him. I had to remove the windows on the blind because he was eating away from the other fallow. I did spook him out and my stomach dropped. But he came back in and gave me a shot at 14 yards. I pulled back and I was so nervous, shaking and sweating. I let an arrow fly and hit him. I made a very low shot and although we had lots of blood, Lucy the super dog kept finding his trail after we bumped him numerous times. Without skylar's expert help and lucy's nose there is no way I could of had this buck. so a huge thank you to them. had the best time ever to get my first kill with a bow. Tim scored a hog and made a great shot. "boo' also made his first kill ever on a hog and smoked him.
