Pheasant Hunting

Have a serious bug to do some pheasant hunting this year - will be a first for me. When I think of pheasant I think SD, ND, MN.

Does anyone have any good experiences or recommendations with ranches or outfitters - regardless of state - to pass on?

I've Hunted here and Ecircle E I like Swanson's better but you'll shoot alot more birds at E Circle E because State limits do not apply. It's High fence

Based on the experience I had last year and the reports I've heard from this year, I would say go somewhere that raises their own birds. We went to Kansas last year looking for wild birds, and the population was way down from prior years. I talked to several people at Hunter's Extravaganza this year who said the drought this year further decreased the population.

I usually hunt family land in South Dakota for pheasant. One year I went on a trip to Gregory and hunted at Biggin's Ranch. I was impressed from the minute I walked into the place. We were treated like family and stuffed with excellent food. This is the only outfitted trip I have been on so I do not have anything to compare it to. I know it was not a cheap trip but it was a blast. They are not too far from Sioux Falls.

I'd also consider Kansas. There are thousands of public walk in hunting ground that focused on quail/pheasant preservation. Just a thought...
