Need help with ants - the small black type

At the camp we have a tremendous over-abundance of ants, the small black sugar ant variety. They are getting into the outside air conditioning unit, messing up the contactor, getting into vehicles. The mounds must be underground now, since we have had minimal amount of rain to force them to the surface.

I've tried Amdro and Spectacide poisons. I think the ants just get fat off them!

Does anyone have a method of getting rid of these armies of ants?

I am just glad there are sort of friendly, because otherwise I think they could conquer the world......Oh wait, I think they have already.

We had the little orange sugar ants (Pharaoh Ants) all over our kitchen. I got some Max Force FC and put it out in little bait stations. That was probably two years ago. Haven't had them back since. It should work on the black ones as well.

I've had good success with Ortho Home Defense keeping ants out of our hunting cabin.

These are called rover ants, they are best treated with baits and not a spray. They consume the baits and take it back to the ant colony to help kill out the ants. Terro liquid baits or advion ant gels work best. Spraying them will make them worse and cause them to spread. Hope this helps.

Pour some pepper on the ground where they`re entering camp`s house, it works as a good repellent not only for ants but mice buddy...

I can see some ants are going to be in trouble real soon.

                  Thanks
