I lost my new dog yesterday evening. Max was our new yellow lab. He was about 6-8 months old! We have only had him a month. We got him to go with our chocolate lab because he was lonly when our minnie pin got ran over. She got ran over the first week of January. So Bogart was lonely and barking and howling. So we got Max the yellow lab. Well about 5pm yesterday they where out in the front yard running and playing with us working in the yard. They ran down the road and both of them got ran over right in front of me trying to get them back in the yard. Max didn't make it! Bogart made it but is really really sore in is back legs. The good thing he alive and nothings broke! The only bad thing my kids saw the hole thing last night. Plus the lady that ran over them never even stopped. I chased her down and gave her a good cussing for driveing like a bat out of hell down these roads and for not stopping to say I"M SORRY TO MY KIDS.

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.
Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

Sorry to hear about the loss, animals are like kids to most.
Being on the other side, I have stopped after hitting someones animal and had to listen to them rant about how it is all my fault and blame for this and have to pay for that and be insulted for just minding my own business driving normally down the road when their animal ran under the vehicle, there was no stopping in time. I won't do it again. I will stop to prevent hitting it if it is safe but not afterwards.
It is one thing if she was speeding and driving wreckless vs driving the speed limit and careful. It is another thing when people don't keep their animals behind fences and then blame others when they end up being run over. She may have never knew she him them depending on what she was driving.
When my dog gets loose and doesn't come back on command I chalk it up to, he will learn. Where I live everyone shoots strays, collar or not, because it is a dumping ground for dogs, cats and even a potbellied pig. My dog was a dumped puppy, just weeks old. With 5 kids and livestock I don't take any chances.
Another rant
Just like people that ride horses on the paved public roads, since rodeo is in town again. Why would you bring a horse out and ride it when it is skittish of vehicles and then yell at passing cars for making your horse freak out, when the cars are going less than 10 mph...so slow that it doesn't register on the speedo. Don't bring it out if it is that skittish, train it and if it can't pass some tests in the field then leave it in the field. Common sense folks.
