I'd start with steel wool and oil. You can finish with buffing wheel if you wanted

Sure is. Has been sitting in my old tackle box at my folks house unused for 20 years.

Brasso on the brass. See if anyone you know already has some. It won't take much and if you buy some, it will just be sitting there unused (Unless you know someone in the Corps of Cadets. )

Ketchup and a toothbrush on the brass, let the ketchup sit on there for a few minutes

I think I still have some. I would gladly donate it but the valley is far away from everywhere.

Thanks guys. I never heard of ketchup but may give it a try since I dont have Brasso. What kind of oil is lean machine talking about? Just put a drop in the hinge?

00 Steel wool will do more in 5 minutes than you can imagine. Then a little oil on the wood to put some moisture back into it.
