If any of you own a Chevy 1500 with the 5.3L Active Fuel Management System, what kind of highway MPG are you getting ?? I've heard of some getting 20-21, but just wanted see if this was realistic.
07 Z-71 crew Cab. I get 15 in town and average a little over 17 with mix driving. I got 17.75 on the way to Ozona (averageing around 85 mph with the bed completely loaded with hunting gear). Best I got was 19. Worst was 14.5 mpg when I was moving with a loaded down truck and trailer.
06 Z-71 crew cab w/ 5.3 I'm getting 14.5 average, and a little over 15 on HWY. I have the Diablo Sport Programmer and running Nitto Mud Grappler 33x12.50x20s w/ a 3" lift. I used the programmer to re calibrate the tire size and it also increased my mileage by 1 mpg,, also K&N filter.
I did what I could to increase MPG but what can you expect when you do this to a truck. Pay to play!
05 Z71 I put 20s on mine also with 33" toyo open country tires and a 3" lift. Mine now averages 12.9 mpg I put on a superchip and it didn't help one bit. Guess I need a K&N filter.
It's kinda fun to watch the management system. That combo, as shown below, with 2wd will actually get 22-24 mpg. IF you drive 55 mph and there is no headwind. I have done it many times on a 15 mile trip to work. With the price of gas, I may have to go 40 mph from now on.
I get 21-22 highway out of mine. My overall average is 18-19. I run it like a scalded cat on the highway. Mobil One oil and maximum air pressure in the tires are my only modifications.

Thanks for the info! I drive 70 miles round trip daily, and my current 05' F-150 w/4.6 is only getting about 16. I would like to have something with a little better MPG plus more towing capacity.
