    Aggravating! (Long read)

When a 120"+ buck comes in at 150 yards and all you have is a Mathews in your hand.... And then, he has the nerve to bed down out in the open after you've been grunting, rattling and snorting to get him to come in. This happened to me tonight and I had gotten started writing this, but I had this buck come out and do this to me tonight, and he ran off with some does out of sight. Figured it was the normal group of does coming thru. Well right as I was typing that up, I had a doe come in to the pond behind me.., ok enough with tbh for the time being. She looped around and I took a 40 yard shot at her, there's goes my night on a dumb decision. Well as I was sitting there about 20 min later, out comes 3 more does about 75 yards away. As I was toying with them, they crossed the field, and about 5 min later, here comes the buck that was bedded down. He ran back across the field, an stopped in the middle of it. Here comes another deer up to him, which I thought was a doe, turned out to be an equal size buck, just chocolate horned. So I started snorting and grunting again, and he begins to come in on a rope. I had to keep snorting at him to come in, but it worked! The negative side of this story was I took the only shot I really had before he crossed into my scent, and he was quartered to me a little, and the arrow only got about 3" of penetration. But he did run off with his tail up on the positive side, and what looked to be a great heart shot. So I jumped out of the stand to make sure I hit him, and found the arrow broken with drops of blood around it, good. Went to find my other arrow, as I'm looking around for it, I look up to see the bedded down buck at the edge of the tree line staring at me, so I freeze. As me and him are sitting here having a staring contest, another buck of about the same size comes wandering up to my right, going right where I had just the last buck (keep in mind I'm standing in the wide open). He caught me shaking eventually after he got behind me because my adrenaline was going so hard, but I made a pretty major move and the bedded down buck was still at the tree line staring at me. So I had a little fun, and started to grunt at him, and I almost thought he was gonna kill me because he started coming towards me. But needless to say, it's not that aggravating after all. Sorry for the long read, I'm gonna wait for quite a while on this big boy and then get my dog out here and see what she can do. I just wish I had video cameras around for this excitement.

Hey y'all, sorry I forgot to add I missed the shot on the doe. And we decided to back out, we found quite a bit of blood, but decided to back out and wait until the morning just to be sure. I'll be able to get my dog after him in the morning. I'll post ldp's when I find him, just hope I do. It's gonna be a sleepless night

It appears I hit the buck in the front shoulder since I didn't get much penetration and wasn't a lethal shot. We picked up on the trail and didn't find very much where we left off last night even with the dog. Also did a grid search and came up short. Hopefully he is still alive, and I feel bad about it, just have to take it as a learning experience and move on.
