When is it a good time to rattle?

Okay y'all I'm sitting in the stand in lampasas county and was wondering when to rattle . U got a nice set of rattle antlers Layin on the ground next to me . I kinda want to rattle now . Is it the right time to rattle ? I've been seeing bucks running Doe but I do believe it's still pre rut.

In southern OK this week (Tues & Wed), I rattled in 3 young bucks on 3 different hunts. i have never had success rattling but these guys came running in. I say rattle away...

Every rule of thumb is made to be broken. Having said that, I prefer to rattle mid-day to late afternoon. I rattle for about 2 to 3 minutes then wait 30 minutes or 45 minutes and try again. Grunt a bit as well as you rattle.
