    Lawn Equipment Question

Maybe someone on here can help me out. Can you load a 32 inch walk behind mower into the back of a truck using the aluminum 4 wheeler ramps? I have recently started mowing lawns in my neighborhood and need to upgrade from my 22 inch Craftsman. I don't want to mess with a trailer. Any suggestions for where to pick up a good used one at? I have checked Craigslist and not many in that size. Thanks ahead of time for the help.

Not trying to be smart, but can you not just pick it up and put it in the truck?

Should have been more clear...sorry....I am talking about a commercial style mower...Toro, Skagg etc. I don't think I will be able to lift those.

A 32" mower is gonna be pretty darn heavy, it't take a couple of big bruisers to lift it into a truck.

A set of ramps could work, you will want to back up to a curb to relieve as much ramp angle as possible.

A low boy trailer sure is easier though. You just have to deal with the aggravation of towing it.

Maybe one of those cheap tiny trailers from Harbor Freight might work?

          Anything to save your back...

How big are the lots your doing? We ran a couple 27" would fit through every gate and not as much weight in wet grass.

                Most lots are 1/3 acre...but I have a few that 3/4 acre.

That lawn mower should not weigh more than a normal 4 wheeler so I say go for it. It shouldn't be a problem at all. My 42" riding mower weighs around 400 lbs and yours should be less.

You can, but like said before you need to back it up. Otherwise it will try and flip over on you. If the truck is very tall, I would look at a trailer for sure. Loading and unloading these things can get exciting quickly. I did it for several years and still pucker up when I have to do it with ramps into a truck. We had some real rodeos loading lawn equipment in trucks.

I didn't consider the logistics of actually loading the mower, only the weight. Good point.

Get a trailer now instead of later when you decide the ramps are a major PITA.

The short answer is yes, you can. Just be sure and safe about it.
