Picked up a new spot in rusk need some advice

Not sure if this is the right section or not but, if its not MODS could you please move it. So now down to the questions...... I just picked up a 34 acre spot that has not been touched since 1984. The land owner is my land lord and has been telling me about this spot his mother owns litteraly about 5 miles from my house and that if I ever wanted to hunt it I could. Well three years later I finaly get him in the truck to show me where it is at. It is surounded by farm land on three sides. It is over grown with scrub brush and grass. Its a mix of old and new oaks along with old and new pines. I need a game plan for cleaning it up and hunting. Any input would be greatly appreciated!!! Thank you!!!!!!!!!!!! By the way the title is wrong it is Rusk county not the city of Rusk.

Don't touch it... If the deer r in there and like it the way it is, then figure a way to put a few hang on stands u can slip in an out of without being detected. If there not there then build a food plot... Farm land on three sides I would bet its a good bedding area.

I would leave it alone especially this year. Statton48 is right, it probably is a good bedding area, so be sure to have an easy entrance to your stand as to not try to disturb anything.

If it's surrounded by farmland, I'd say you probably have a deer island there. I wouldn't do much to it. Work with what you have.

I think all the advice here is spot on. Sounds like a deer oasis. Don't do anything to push them out. Try to find a few spots on the edges where you can hang a treestand.
