Today I was reminded how much I miss it.

Today I was really stressed with my school work and I knew I just needed to get away. So, I grabbed my rattling antlers, grunt call, and binos, then headed out to a little sanctuary behind my house. I walked down the fence line trying to enjoy the cool weather and calm down from the day. Then to my surprise there she was, one of the does I had watched all summer, standing no more than 15 yards away. No sooner than she caught my eye the sound of antlers in the brush caught my ears. He stepped out about 75 yards away and I eased back a few yards and sat down. The Doe that caught my movement eased off and the young 8 point I had photos of followed less than 15 yards from where I was sitting. Nothing spectacular antler wise for a 2 year old but a definite up and comer. As he ran off I listened to the sound of antlers hitting brush and grunts echoing through the trees. It was then that I truly realized how much I missed the deer lease I lost 4 years ago.

lilbradford--you got it figured out for sure. Keep up the hard work, and payoff is coming. Lots of time left for a lease--which can be taken away from you, but the education can't.

Thanks guys. I'm getting a business degree from University of Houston's Bauer College of Business hopefully through their entrepreneurship program. It's very selective and I find out if I got in Friday at noon. I told them going in that I wanted to figure out how to start my own hunting ranch and I'm hoping that the number one program in the nation can help me figure it out! When I get that ranch one day in going to have green screen discounts for all of you! Thanks again for the kind words guys.
