What bullet style is the best choice for deer out to 300 yrds? Roundnose softpoint? Hollow point?

Im not talking about accuracy im referring to bullet performance...weight retention..expansion etc....basically i want a bullet that will expand well in close quarters but not blow the animal in half.....270 is my caliber...

Remington Core-Lokt PSP (pointed soft point) used these bullets with my 223 and 270 since I was a kid.

Barnes TSX bullet will meet all those requirements.

I shoot Federal 130 grain SP's. in my 270. They aren't that expensive, my gun groups them well, and they have done great on the 10 or so deer I have shot with them.

Ive been shooting the Federal Power Shok 150 grain with a lead soft point and though ive only got to shoot one pig with it so far it left him face down in the hole he was rooting in.....just wondering if there were any different style of bullet i should look into....my shots are basically high shoulder or neck shots

If your rifle likes them and groups them well, keep shooting them. If it ain't broke don't fix it!! That round is fine for deer and pigs.

i have shot all kinds and have had succefull kills with all kinds, but i am a core lokt man at heart. all my rifles are shooting core lokts except my 300 wsm ( because i still have 5 boxes of accu bonds) and it will shoot core lokts onece those are gone. but that may take a long time to shoot those up.
