    Browning BOSS settings?

Does anybody on the GS have a Browning A Bolt 30.06 with a BOSS on it. If so, what are your settings for some of the factory ammo you've shot. I have a .06 with a BOSS but really haven't played with it much. I bought the gun just because I got a good deal on it. Wasn't really what I was looking for but couldn't pass on a good deal. I know Browning has a "sweet spot" chart but I'm really looking for personal experience. Im also wondering if the chart is pretty close to spot on? Thanks a lot guys.

I have a Boss in .270 and,300 mag. In my opinion unless your reloading your own ammo to the micro second the Boss isn't going to show you much by "dialing in".
It'll shoot just fine with good factory loads with out tuning in the Boss.

Well, I usually shoot 150gr Core Loks but bought some Hornady 165gr SSTs so I guess I'm just going with the Browning chart which says 3.0

I have a Browning A Bolt Medallion in 30-06. I have tried two different factory loads with different results. I used to shoot a 180 gr. Federal bullet that the chart shows should have a sweet spot of 5. However, after some time at the range I found out mine actually groups better at 4.5. Currently I am shooting the Hornady 165 gr. SST that you mentioned. The recommended sweet spot for them is 3. After doing the same thing at the range, 3.0 is where I have found that they group the best for me. If you have any other questions PM me and I will help you the best I can.

Using the chart does give accurate settings for my .270 w/ BOSS. I would pick your bullet weight and then get 2 different factory ammos and place the BOSS setting for the recommended number.
Then shoot a few rounds and adjust the number plus or minus until you find a tight group with that ammo. Do the same for the next ammo.

I found the Winchester ballistic silve tips 130 gr worked best in my gun.

Once its dialed in, your accuracy should be dead on from there.

I agree with this. The best part of the BOSS is tuning the gun to the ammo instead of tuning the ammo to the gun and that is the correct way to do it.
