Using Leather Grinder Wheel to sharpen Broadheads?

Has anyone ever used a table grinder with a leather lined wheel to sharpen broadheads? I figured it would work a lot like a leather strap. I looked all over Lowes and Home Depot yesterday and couldn't find one of those wheels. I know I've seen one before. Anybody got any leads?

I have used knife sharpening wheels on broadheads before. Just not the leather one.It should work just fine.

I use a cardboard wheel with a dab of green compound on my bench grinder for the final step in knife sharpening. I've used the same method for broadheads but it is a bit tricky and potentially dangerous. Holding them to the wheel bare handed gives the best feel for what the edge is doing but it makes me nervous so I wear gloves or hold it with pliers.

I used vice grips to hold them. Forgot to mention that.

The sharpest knife I've ever owned was sharpened by Rubydog on a belt sander using a leather belt/band

His broadheads are sharpened using the same method

I just built a braodhead sharpening set up that is pretty much a no-brainer. Even I can get them wicked sharp in about two minutes.
                I bought a 1" X 30" belt sander with 320 grit belt at Harbour Freight $40
Then I made a 6" diameter leather strop wheel out of layers of thick scrap leather clamped together on a bench grinder motor. I bought a new motor from HF, another $40
Lay the belt sander on its back so that the belt is running away from you in a horizontal position. One or two passes on each side of the broadhead on the sandpaper keeping the original grind angle of the broadhead you are using. This will raise up a very small burr on the edge of the blade. You will need very good light to do this becsue you need to be able to see the burr.
Strop the burr edge first with one or two passes with the wheel turning away from you. Then flip the broadhead over and strop the opposite side.
This will get them wicked sharp and it takes only about a minute or two per head.

The replacable heads on chisel point broadheads will have to have some kind of holding tool becasue they are so small.

Works great, just be careful. If the wheel grabs the head you could end up with a few less fingers.

If you have the wheel turning away from you it will get the blades scary sharp and lessen or eliminate the tendancy for the belt or strop to catch the blade and injure you or someone else.
The guy who showed me how to set this up is a wood carver and this is how he keeps ALL of his knives and chisels in a scary sharp condition.
