I've always used bleach for light to mild infections. If it is more than a couple of spots, then I just go to the doc.

Yep, happened to me before too. I had it on both my forearms then slept by resting my face on the forearms and got it all over my face. Don't believe the Internet sites that say it can't be spread from skin to skin contact that is a bunch of BS.

I can only think of one place more sensative than your face and thankfully I haven't got it there yet.

wash with Dawn dish soap and then get a hair dryer on high heat and heat the area until you can't stand it any longer, then you hit a euphoria stage and you will feel all better. Then apply Corona Cream (it's an utter ointment you can get at some pharmacies or the feed store/tractor supply but it is lanolin(sp) based and works great. Then next year get your doctor to find and write a script for the poison ivy vaccine, it's compounded by a pharmacy in Arkansas somewhere. It is a two or three shot series the first year and a one shot booster each year after.

I put the water on 100% hot. It hurt. I then covered the areas with the soap and scrubbed them with the scotchbrite out of the water so it would be 100% soap. After I washed off all the blood, my poison ivy was 99% gone. The only reason it was not 100% is because it hurt too bad to scotchbrite my face and ears. They got a light scrubbing.

Wash your clothes and anything else that may have the oil on it.
Dang, you got any skin left in the areas you scrubbed?

Scrub thoroughly with warm water and dish soap. Then apply bleach and let dry. Goes away in a day

I got it two weekends ago. I went to the doctor for the steroid shot, but it is not gone completely. I washed my hunting clothes, but I am afraid I have it on my badlands pack which I had hung in the tree.

How long will the oil stay on my pack? I don't want to wash my pack. Do you think the oil is dry by now? Can I still get poison ivy if I sweat with my pack on ?

for temporary relief----go to the store buy a 1/2 gallon of Jim Beam----drink 1/3 of the bottle----go to sleep

for permanent relief----go to the Dr. and get the shot and a medrodose pack(sp?) you'll feel better within hours!! but---don't stop taking the meds thinking you can save them for the next time---take them all !

I've tried all the "home remedies" ,,,,the straight bleach,,,the Dawn,,,oatmeal,,,,etc. MY only relief came from the Dr.'s office---well---except for the temporary relief from Jim Beam!!

I bought some stuff called caragel from CVS and it came with a small bottle of tecnu. Put it on and the next day it was dried out. It only itched from the healing.

This morning i can already feel that it's starting to dry out more and looks significantly better, just gonna continue to use the dish soap texhnique, feels great and works better! It's reduced to almost half the size since yesterday

Sadly the reaction is there for 14 days. Sometimes the shot wears off and you're still itching. That's why prednasone is prescribed in a 15 day supply. I've had the best results with the pills.

Basically a thin skab like a carpet burn. It is much better than the itch.

I have heard the oil is there until you wash it away. I would try some scent free wipes.

I hung my pack in the tree and actually hung my quiver on a poision ivy vine. I haven't washed them yet and used them 3 times since then.

I can roll in the stuff and not get it, but my wife is high allergic and now refuses to wash any of my clothes.

She learned her lesson one to many times of me saying, no of course I wasn't in poison ivy while I was on my hands & knees in the middle of the woods looking for blood. Who knew???
