Surprised there isn't any mention of the big storm...

We are about to have a record breaker. No telling how many billions of dollars damage this baby is gonna do...and it's not even high tide yet...

Wy wife was in the middle of it until this morning. She went to NYC to see some friends with another friend from Austin. They wouldnt be able to get a flight out until Friday. They are in a rental car headed to Columbus, OH right now to catch a flight tomorrow at noon.

Y'all are gonna be shocked at the devastation. They just aren't ready for something like this. I could see the New York subway system and all the underground infrastructure that goes with those massive high rise buildings getting wiped out by saltwater. The storm surge coupled with an unusual high tide coupled with the the torrential rain with nowhere to go is going to be really ugly.

I have kept up very little, but if this strom was a 3, 4 or 5 I can't imagine the damage.

It's not gonna be the wind, it's gonna be the water.

                  Lots and lots of water.

I was just thinking that. Guess it isn't directly effecting us, which selfishly gives me some relief as I am currently 100 miles out in the Gulf. I'll pray for em- thanks for the reminder.

Remember the movie "The Perfect Storm"? Just to give you some perspective on how much stronger Sandy is, the pressures that are currently being measured are sub 940 mb. The Perfect Storm had a lowest pressure of 971. Sandy has the largest wind field of any tropical cyclone I've ever seen and that includes a storm like Ike which was huge. Its wind field is about 4 times larger than Katrina right now (which was also a large storm) almost 1000 miles across.

I don't think theres a lack of compassion for those in the way of the storm. But when you have been through a few of them theres a sick sense of relief its someones else's turn. Just my sick and jaded opinion.

I do agree with you on the destruction thats headed that way. Not going to be pretty. Were kinda used to them here. They are not.
