In 2009, I made the maiden voyage to the Dark Continent! As many have done on this site, I joined Dries Visser Safaris for a plains game hunt. I had an AMAZING trip, but never took the time to share my experience with the TBH family (I can explain that part in a minute). I would like to think that I inspired MichaelW's first trip (everyone has seen his thread 3 million times 
)......in addition to providing him the necessary coaching for a successful trip and hunt! In fact, after reading his masterfully written hunting memoir.......I forgot about my trip, all together, and was determined to make a return trip.....SOON! 
Why did my trip become so forgetful, you ask? On the 5th day of an 8 day hunt......my wife called. Why would she be calling at this hour, I asked myself? It was 6am my time and I was heading for breakfast. Her words were:
"Honey.........my water just broke!" Although she was 6 1/2 weeks early, it was game time and my daughter was going to be there within the hour. Now, I travel just about every week with my job and consider myself to be an expert traveler..........but, half way around the world, I couldn't fix this! So, I officially became the first man to miss the birth of his first child........due to an African Safari.......and the first man to kill a Kudu Bull 3 hours after the birth of his first child! Unbeknownst to me, I also became "that guy". The guy that every man would reference from that day forward......when they had personally screwed up in epic fashion......using lines like "Chris's wife forgave him, and he was on a Safari when his daughter was born........in AFRICA"!

The dates are secured, deposits have been made and the camp is booked....... but we had a hunter drop out! So, we need 1 additional hunter to complete our group (could accommodate 2 if needed).
