Birds that sound like deer snorting and blowing

Does anyone know what kind of bird sounds like deer blowing at you? I know it is a bird cause I pinpointed one with my binoculars last night...it was upwind of me and then it flew to my left...just wondering, cause they are annoying!!!

I'm watching this. I don't know what they are, but they make me crazy.

I am thinking they are owls. Reminds me of the one on the movie "My Cousin Vinny".

These are small birds...didn't look like owls...smaller than a robin but bigger than a finch

Probably a brown thrasher. Those bird's can make a wide array of vocalizations.

Wood thrush???? They seem to be one of the first birds to stir in the morning.

This thread is so funny! I had a big 8 last year come in and round up 3 does and run them about 40 yards from me. They went into the woods where it was real thick and i could not see them. Then it sounded like they were blowing at me. I was confused. Then 10 minutes later it sounded like they were still there blowing at me. LOL

Glad you brought this up becuase my friends thought I was crazy!

I know a road runner can make a sound that mimics a buck grunting. I've seen it.

Wood Thrush are very rare this time of year. We usually only get them during Spring migration, and even then they aren't very common.

Thrashers sound like a mockingbird (they're in the same family). They repeat a note a 2-3times, then switch and repeat a few times, etc. Thrashers can make ALOT OF NOISE though when they're turning over leaves and "thrashing" around. I swear I heard a hurd of buffalo coming through the forest once and it was a thrasher.

I can't think of any bird off the top of my head that makes snorting/nasal sounds, especially smaller ones. You have me stumped!

Just saw that this year. Was sitting in camp by myself drinking coffee and heard what I thought was a grunt. Big roadrunner climed a dead tree in camp and started preening and doing that chatter/grunt. Didn't have the camera that trip but it was cool to watch.

Haven't heard the other bird that I know of but I do know we have Thrushes at our place in Paris.

I know exactly the noise you are thinking of and I think it is a thrasher. Sounds like a deer blowing at you, but slightly different
