    Depressing!

What used to be a quiet, peaceful hunt, has turned into a city of oil traffic, oil rigs, and noise. Constant noise! Simply far from what it used to be.

I love it!! Im sitting on one outside of dilley now and it feeds my family. I can tell you that i grew up in an area where rigs were and have hunted 200 yds from them and killed nice deer. I understand it not peaceful though, thats for sure!! It amazes me how far sounds travel when your in a stand on a calm morning.

I am sitting here listing to chain saws, dozers, trackhoes, and mulchers cutting a line for a 36" pipeline that is going to oaklahoma then to Canada. They are going right past one of my stands. Buy we do have a nice road going to our camp. I just marked it on my GPS and they are 675 yards to the south. I did see a 4 pt at 8:00

LOL Yea cant beat that.. Iv found it really dont affect hunting the deer become used to it and its just another sound in the woods. Kinda like when a tractor is running or the big compressor in the barn by our lease.

But it is a pin when your tring to enjoy the morning and all you hear is racket!!!!

Yes they had 18 wheelers in and out all weekend bringing in mats to make the road. They also made a rock ramp at every intersection so we can get on and off. We are trying to fina a slow children at play sign because they hual butt past the camp.

I've found it can be extremely helpful. Those guys are there everyday and at different times. Always carry extra water, gatorades, sandwiches etc. everytime I go scouting. Strike up a conversation and offer some refreshments and they will usually provide good info on deer movement.

And the deer are used to their activity.

Hard to keep my eyes on everyone an make sure these guys aren't hunting too! That's another problem. I don't want these bucks Getn used to truck traffic. These guys don't need to see a 160+ running around. You are right, Getn to be more standing looks out the pickup window. But, it's all good I guess. One day, this will be a memory. Hopefully.
