What used to be a quiet, peaceful hunt, has turned into a city of oil traffic, oil rigs, and noise. Constant noise! Simply far from what it used to be.

I love it!! Im sitting on one outside of dilley now and it feeds my family. I can tell you that i grew up in an area where rigs were and have hunted 200 yds from them and killed nice deer. I understand it not peaceful though, thats for sure!! It amazes me how far sounds travel when your in a stand on a calm morning.

I am sitting here listing to chain saws, dozers, trackhoes, and mulchers cutting a line for a 36" pipeline that is going to oaklahoma then to Canada. They are going right past one of my stands. Buy we do have a nice road going to our camp. I just marked it on my GPS and they are 675 yards to the south. I did see a 4 pt at 8:00Last edited by cwd500; 10-29-2012, 07:34 AM.

I've found it can be extremely helpful. Those guys are there everyday and at different times. Always carry extra water, gatorades, sandwiches etc. everytime I go scouting. Strike up a conversation and offer some refreshments and they will usually provide good info on deer movement.
And the deer are used to their activity.
