Setting a ladder stand in same tree as a scrape??

Just what the title says. Been watching does and bucks cross 75yards in front of me for the last two weeks. Been thinking about putting a ladder stand up in a big tree the whole time watching. Checked it out today and found a scrape on the backside of the tree I want to use. They also have two trails just beat down within 20yards of said tree.

Next closes tree that is decent size (big enough for ladder) is 50yards away and a small tree is 30yards. Would you set a stand in the tree with the scrape?

Just wondering. Getting tired of watching and need to put something in freezer.

    Thanks.

I'd put one up but hunt WAY high, so you won't get noticed. As long as you have visibility of the trails they are using to get to the scrape.

Do you have anyplace to put up a blind? That is the route I would go.

The tree more or less has three trunks coming out of one base. It is thick with limbs so being seen I don't think would be a problem. If I remeber ladder stand is 15-16ft. The smaller tree across from it I would have to take one set of steps off of it to use it.

Not really. If you don't padlock your stand to the tree it sprouts legs if you know what I mean.

That's thinking outside of the box and I'd like to know how it turns out. I'd say go for it.

Trust me, I know what you mean, I have had mine sprout legs before.

It sounds like you have a tree like I have at my place, one big base that branches off. Since you can't use a blind, as long as the ladder isn't on the same side as the scrape, and your hidden, you should be ok. Setting up in the smaller tree and having to take a section of ladder off, that is gonna drop ya to about 10-12'. I got a 10' ladder stand, and it is pretty short.

I would try setting up on the scrape tree.
