    Best 223 round for deer

I am going to buy my son a single shot rossi .223 so I can get him started deer hunting. I am trying to get some opinions from the green screen on what yall think the best .223 round is for deer and pig hunting. Any info will be greatly appreciated.

Other people will disagree but I like hornady superformance v max. If you keep it out of the shoulder it will lay one out right there. Im used to seeing nothing but feet in the air after I pull the trigger.

i hand load a nosler ballistic tip 55gr with xbr 8208 powder but that little ballistic tip might be to explosive to shoot a deer with, i would go with something bonded, like a little nosler partition.

I swear by the 60gr Nosler Partition. Factory loads or handloads, that bullet gets the job done right.

I shoot nosler 117 grain partition out of my 257 weatherby and it is a smoker. Killed many a pig with that round.

I love the federal premium with Barnes triple shock (TSS) in .55 grain

Anything that's a lead nose or maybe the 69 and 75 gr HPs. Stay away from the
Lower end hollow points and the varmint bullets like v-maxs. Do you know what twist rate the rifle has.

1:8 twist prob 60 gr and above for the best accuracy.

1:9 twist 50-60gr with the best accuracy.

1:12 twist should shoot the 36-55grs the best.

You want to stay away from anything designed for varmints in this round. They will not penetrate enough before fully expanding/breaking apart. You want a round that will stay solid, like core lokt and PSP.

These look interesting and I will definately pick up a box to try out.

Tried and proven performance right here. These are what my wife uses.
