    Retrofit Barnominium

Has anyone gone into an existing metal barn and built a home. There is a 7000 sqfoot metal barn with excellent structure for sale. Concrete floors which are made to drive on. Do you know what it would cost per sq ft to retrofit a house inside. I do understand that the sinks and toilets would have to be busted out of the concrete for water lines and drainage. The roof it probably 30 feet tall in the center. It is 70 x 100. If you were to build a 4000sq bottom floor and 2000 sq foot second level, and idea of what the build out would be.

Mines at the ranch is only a 2 bedroom/one bath with a big screened in porch. I put my kitchen sink on the outside wall and poured a new slab for the bathroom (small extension to the existing building) on the same wall so I didn't have to jackhammer out concrete.

Is the existing metal roof insulated? Keep in mind, that if it not, there will be times that it will "rain" in your building because of condensation dripping off of your purlins.

How much does a metal barn 70 x 100 with eves at 15 foot and a center at 30 foot cost. It has 2 roll up doors that are 15 foot tall, also have a complete concrete slab.
How much new would this cost to have built

That's not bad. So u think your could build it out for under $50sq foot?

Misread. Thought it was $100k for build out. That's what I was guessing for the shop as well

if you elevate your floors in the bathroom/kitchen you wouldnt need to demo the existing concrete. plus you would be able to easily access it for maintainence.
