Burnet County Rut

I work in Burnet. Last Thursday(18th) We watched a buck chase a doe over here by the airport for more than a half an hour.

It's on in Mcculloch county just north west of you. Finding huge scrapes and rubs and bucks of all Ages chasing especially when it's cool.

From my experience on this lease for 14 yrs that's about 3 weeks early. Not sure why but it is what it is.

I hunt here and have seen the same thing, it is definitely early! Usually I don't see activity like this till the first or second weekend of gun season.

I live in Burnet county and I'm seeing bucks in the middle of the day. Watching young bucks chasing does in the front yard, I don't think it's going too be long before there will be some catching going on.

Bucks are already chasing the does in Gillespie County. It's on for sure at our lease.

I am in NE Gillespie and I didn't see any activity this weekend that would lead me to think the RUT was kicking in. I had a bachelor group on cam with some bucks sparring and I am still seeing bucks together:
