    Best MREs

Looking to stock up on some pretty soon. What are the best ones and where to buy? Thanks

Go to army surplus stores. I like most of them. Pork ribs I usually avoid. I'm a big ribs fan normally but the mre one is terrible.

Chili Mac is my favorite. Beef enchilada isn't bad either. Def have to add some seasoning to all of them

As we used to call them -- "MRE = Meals Rejected by Ethiopians"

I'll take the old LRRP rations (same as freeze-dried stuff you can buy at camping stores) and C-rations ahead of MREs, but to be fair, haven't tried any since I retired in '99.

probably because it isnt ribs its just lips and a**holes pressed into rib shape. MREs are pretty much dog food if you ask me, with a whole lotta preservatives. Make sure you have some fiber with you.

Aint nothing wrong with an MRE, kept me going for a good while. You cant expect the comforts of home and a candle lit dinner out of a plastic bag. Tuna with noodles and chili mac are ok. I would tell yall the other one I like but you will think im crazy! Any bag you open with jalapeno cheese spread is a winner if you ask me.

Agree, it's in a plastic bag and loaded with calories to keep fighting men fighting. I like the chicken and noodle one, that was my favorite in '03, not sure what's out now. One of our guys got a hold of the winter version and they had a breakfast meal that was really good, not sure how he got that in the Middle East though.

Isn't MRE just the "type" or "general description" and then you have different manufacturers? I mean if there's better options please fill me in.

Gonna sound crazy, but I like most of the vegetarian ones. They are all pastas. Pasta is pretty easy to keep dried and then just heat up and have taste good. Most of the newer ones aren't bad. The buffalo chicken one however is awful. Its like a buffalo chicken soup with mostly sauce and some shreds of terrible tasting chicken.
