    Cross Timbers Trail

up on lake texoma there is thousands of acres of public land to hunt if you know where to look. so i've been doing my research trying to find these little pieces of gold that no one else is hunting or knows they can hunt. well i have recently found cross timbers trail. its i believe 1500 acres of shoreline that runs along the south west shore of the lake. the only problem is there are only 2 ways to access this. 1) boat 2) hike. well not having a boat i opted the the hike, im 25 and in pretty good shape so i said hell that will be a breaze. little did i know it's 8 miles from one end to the other. i start out on the trail at one of the local marinas and load up my back pack with my water and a t/c and some scent lures ect and take off. the first 1/4 i was already seeing some sign but i wanted to keep going. my curiousity was getting the best of me. well after seeing lots of promising sign i look at my watch and i've been walking for 3 hours. crap!! so i quickly do some intense scouting and find a small grove of white oaks, pecans, hickory nut trees. chewed up nuts are everywhere so i deside this is where i will leave my camera close too. i walk alittle further and see a dried up creek bed with lots of travel sign. good (deer) and bad (coyotes and pigs) so i go down it alittle ways and find a good tree to hang my cam and i pour out some code blue buck urine. i'm planning to go back in a week to get my camera. as of now im not completely sure i want to hunt that. i don't think i i want to hike 3 hours in just to sit for 2-3 and then have to leave to get back before someone files a missing persons report on me. who thinks these kind of spots are worth it? would u hike 4 miles into woods with no way out other than boat or walking out? how do you get your game out from that far with out it going bad?
