    Field dressing deer

My biggest problem when doing this is the anus part. That seems to be the most complicated. Does anyone have a good video they have found that they could post for field dressing a deer. Or if someone could tell me how they do it.

Just pull the intestine out a lil bit and cut thru it. Usually pulls out some when I pull the hide down.

Honestly, I carry a filet knife. I grab a hold of the old stinker and cut around it making sure I don't bust the bladder. It pulls straight thru once I open the cavity.

Just make sure you cut the connective tissue between the colin and pelvis. It should the slide out pretty easy.

its all about the angle and the depth....

I cut a complete circle, angled slightly inward, about three inches deep.

A sharp knife is the key.

reminds me of this thread - "Are you a pelvis cracker or a bung reamer?"

I have one and use it. It does work. Just stick it in, rotate, and pull. Then tie it off with some string or something you can make a knot with. I never have a problem. Then I open the deer up, and everything just pulls out the hind end.

It says to discard after one use, but just wash it off, sanitize it, and you can use it over and over.

Why "dump" it? Those are silly directions. Its not like you are using it on live animals. Sounds like marketing to me to make sure non savy people will buy a new one each time.

Ream out the butthole and then it will pull through the cavity. Its not like youve never had a stinky finger before... know what im saying!!

i started breaking the hams off the hips, watched brian do it at buggscuffle in one ninja karate chop and was like why the heck do i always mess with the bh.

i'm not nearly as quick but basically cut the ham to the hip ball and no need to worry about any of that.
