Danner are good boots, for me........................your miles may vary....

I still wear some Vasque Sundowners, been wearing them for well over 20 years. I think this is my 3rd pair in that time.

I have also owned boots by Asolo and LaSportiva; they are both good manufacturers.

I wouldn't hesitate to buy Meindl, Saloman and I like the looks of Keen, but have never tromped around in them.

I wouldn't hesitate to put on a pair of Red Wings, I've worn them for most of my life as well.

Irish Setter and Danner have always made good hunting boots as well. You may look at their "upland" offerings for comfortable walking boots.

Danner or Chippewa would be my recommendation as Tubby said. My boots are swat type boots that are cushioned well, waterproof, and breathe. That have an extra leather piece sewn in at the ankle and a lacing lug that cinches up the ankle so it won't move. Every time we step, the energy generated by the step is transmitted through the ankle to the knee. Cushion the step with a good boot, stabilize the ankle, add a good knee brace like Tubby said, and your knee will see less stress. One other thing, you may need to look into the need for a good set of orthopedic inserts if you have flat feet or other foot problems. Take care and God bless.

Yes. They're easier to break in too.
