      Advice?

First there is the initial investment...then there is the secondary/never-ending investment of time, money and responsibility.

Don't get me wrong. It will be fun when it is used.

Salt system made a great improvement for me. Much more cost effective. Reduced the amount of time I had to devote to measuring water chemistry.
Salt can erode rock and some concrete edging. It can also play heck on metal tubing or fixtures and can build up a crust on other products. I haven't had that problem, our water is very soft.

We have an in-ground liner as well. Considering our soil shifts a lot, it was a great option to go with and comfortable on the feet. Last liner lasted eight years and cost around $2500 to replace. Just do not poke the liner with sharp objects.

Make sure you have a good lock on your yard gate. If you don't have kids yet or already have them be sure to build a child-proof fence around the pool especially if the kids play in the back yard or porch. Buy a safety pool cover. It's be a second line of safety and will keep leaves out of the pool. Dust and dirt will still get in, but at least the leaves will not constantly clog up the skimmer reducing filtration and chlorination.

Raleigh, conversion to salt and maintaining it last year was cheaper for us than to just maintain the chemical chlorine system. You might check it out.

Salt system replacement could be a long-term obstacle.

I don't know anyone who didn't make a small fortune on selling a boat or a house with a pool.

Don't worry a whole lot about how deep it is. Mine is 5' at its deepest point because I live on a rock hill. Never has been a factor but costs more $ the deeper you go.

Hear is the deal with salt and gunnite. If you do not refinnish your gunnite pool every 8 years the pool will weep. meaning the water get into the pores of the pool and seeps into the sub structor so if you have a salt system it will over time eat away your rebar and you will have a real big problem.I would only put a salt system in a fiberglass pool.

I have a hard time believing that. I know many folks that have had salt systems for well over 8 years and have never heard of this problem. Most pool companies give a lifetime warranty against such a thing occuring.
I considered fiberglass at my last home, but after seeing what the Texas sun did to our hottub was too scared to go with it.

Look into Hayward OR PENTAIR SYSTEMS. Pentair has a new energy saving punp that will pay for it self over time and some electric co. will give you a rebate to use it.

Pools and boats are great ways to make a small fortune provided you start with a large fortune. lol

                        I have both-

Also the biggest investment you should make is in a tiny bikini for the wife. Who cares what the pool looks like it whats in the pool the counts!!

I suggest Cascade pools also austec construction The owner of Austec is James Hickman if you would like his number shoot me an email his sister also does work in killeen temple waco.

I most def. not use Lonstar pools. I have heard and been on many jobs after them where pools cracked floated out of the ground and home owners were just 100% dissatisfied.

I would also suggest to build before summer. I never understood why people build pools in the summer cause its almost over by the time you can use it.

I didnt look at them for the new home, but the last place (due to lay of the land) I would have for sure checked them out. I figured they had a solution to the sun problem.
