They came into my feeder area early yesterday morning. At first I thought they were does due to low-light conditions. Eventually, I decided to take one.
Got the shot angle I wanted at about 22 yds. Thought I'd made a good shot with a pass-through. But no blood anywhere. Never found the arrow, but the more I thought about it, I came to realize I'd heard the sound of the arrow ricocheting off trees and ground, so the little boy obviously didn't take the arrow with him.
Later on, three spikes were seen unhurriedly grazing nearby. Thank you, Lord.
Best I can figure is that with so little light available, I just never got my pin in the right place, and the arrow traveled under him.
