    Sentimental items and "lucky" charms

Wanted to see who all carries or wears something of sentimental value or has something they would consider a lucky charm. Of love to hear what it is and why you use it whether it be a pair of socks, a knife, an old hat or whatever.

I wear a bear claw necklace on every hunt I go on. The story is that my dad brother and I went on an elk hunt in Idaho in 03 and while on that hunt I stumbled upon a dead Black bear. He was pretty decomposed (didn't smell no more) and I found just one foot. Claws were still intact so I cut them dudes off and made this necklace when I got back to Texas and I have been wearing it on every hunt since. I like to think it brings me some good luck and even iffin it don't, it still looks cool and I get tons of comments

I also wear a necklace everyday with an African lions claw. My dad went on a dangerous game hunt in 10 and was able to get a lion in Tanzania. He had the dew claws made into pendants; one for me and one for my brother. To the Africans it represents Courage and is suppose to be a reminder to always have Courage.

My dad gave this to me a few weeks before he passed away. I've carried it everyday since "that" day in September 2006...

I keep a pic of my grandad, dad, and brother in my pack with me to pull out and look at to remember my hunts growing up and those with my brother who is away at college right now.

When I was a teenager - probably 40 years ago - I bought my Dad a pocket knife for Father's Day. It was the first gift I ever bought for him with my own money and he carried it for years. When he died in 2004 I got it back. It stays in my gun safe most of the time but it is always in my pocket when I go hunting - as a connection to him and memories of times we spent in the field together.

My paw-paw's rattling horns go with me in my hunting bag. They are pushing 50 years old and are still solid as a rock.

I have a few different rifles in the safe but the one I go to most often is a Marlin 30-30 that my grandpa gave me. He called me down to his house one evening (I was about 15 or so at the time), sat me down in his living room and said "Your dad tells me your a good shot, I've got a 30-30 I want you to have after I'm gone." It was an exciting but bittersweet moment. A year and half later, he passed. A few days afterward my dad walks in my room with the 30-30 and says "Here's the gun your grandpa wanted you to have." There's only been a few gun hunts that I haven't taken it on.
