    Buck bombs??

Do these really work? I've been wanting to try one. I hunt in east Texas so if they do when would be a good time to use it

    I think they work.

I have used them before and had small bucks come in. Never had success with a shooter though. It all has to do with timing, and the rut.

So are you supposed to set these off in/around your stand/setup or off a ways like under the feeder or corn?

I had one go off in my pack that was in the backseat of my truck. I can assure you I went into full rut and pretty near wrecked the truck trying to get it pulled over and shutdown...

They stink like the real thing but I've never had any luck with the two I used. Gotta get the timing right and the wind. Be sure to spray down wind or you'll have a REAL good cover scent smell to ya!!!

In another thread a guy had one of those Deer Calm sticks in his truck and it melted into his seat... said it smelled like all kinds of deer private parts for a month. lol

I started using buck bombs after reading tuthdoc talk about them. I follow his method of just using it as a cover scent and don't disperse the entire can.

I have only been around one. My son set one off last year opening weekend of gun season. I was hunting downwind of him. Shot the Biggest buck I have ever seen. Running like he was being pulled on a string toward that can! I did not know he had set it off till he told me later. I think it worked.

                              X2

I use the Estrus kind during and around rut times. I usually just spray it in a few places around my stand, more as a curiosity scent. Then when I get in the stand, I'll generally spray a little on the tree around me as a cover scent. I've had a really nice 10 run in once and actually slam his nose into the rock I'd sprayed it on.

It's always funny to see people say "I tried it once or twice...nothing". I've rattled hundreds of times, and never had deer come in. I've also rattled about 30-40 times, and had a decent buck come running. According to the "once or twice" theories, rattling isn't worth it.
