    Truck question

I need some ole tbh wisdom. I'm thinking about buying a 2006 dodge deisel 5.9 w 190,000 miles . I was told that not many miles for that truck. What do yall think?

Not on the motor! The front end a transmission are a different story. I would have some money set aside for repairs for them but that's any truck with 200k on mileage.

Check ball joints, tie rods, and sway bar, if they are original Might wanna set aside about 1k, other than that mines an 05 and I've got 194k+ on it and still runs like a top

this and if ac is stock then add another 1k, cost 2800 to rebuild front end, a/c and sway bar on my old truck, 06 with 68k, sold it shortly after

Don't shy away from a diesel, or a dodge for that matter, we're just saying that you need to know what your getting into, POSSIBLY.

I think it's a lot of miles for any truck. The 5.7 is probably better than most with that many, but the rest of the truck may fall apart around it. I sure wouldn't give much for it.

You will have the same problems with a gasser with that many miles on it also. 3 dodges in my family all diesels. Mom has an 06 with broke ac and 104000 miles and electrical problems. Brother had 07.5 with no problems and 100000 mile I have an 08 megacab and I had problems with the emissions until I got rid of it. I also have rebuilt the front end but I have 37 inch tires on my truck. Don't be afraid just know any truck with that many mile u may have to do repairs. It if was a Chevy I would say front end and injectors, ford 6.0 new truck.

I think he talking about a 5.9 cummins not a 5.9(360). I own both and that cummins will run a lot better with 200000 miles than a hemi!

My 06 cummins with 198k on it still running strong just as good as it did brand new, any truck with high miles will need some work sooner or later

I've had the 5.9 cummins from 97 up.Have always ran them in the 300-500k range hotshotting. Still have my 04' and its at 320k and as pulled a 40' G/N from day one upto about 2 yrs ago, never have had alot a problems with the truck.. I dont think 190k is bad for a Dodge. I also see comments about the truck falling apart, bad interior etc alot. I never had problems other than normal maintenence, wear and tear stuff. Check the frontend and for oil leaks. Also ask about the injectors if replaced or not. Usually 200k or so it will be replace injector time. With regular oil changes, motor should be good for alot more miles

In theory that's not a lot of miles for a 5.9, but I don't know any vehicle with that many miles that wouldn't require you to set aside a few grand for future repairs. Sure the engine will last "forever" but there is a lot more to a truck than just an engine. I think that most people are asking too much for their high mileage trucks... Buy it if it's a great deal.
