    Need advice on waders

Sorry, not quite bowhunting, but I need advice and you guys always help. I'm looking to get some chest waders for duck hunting. Ive looked at several on-line, read reviews, etc. but still don't really know! I think I like the Lacrosse Teal Waders from BPS, 600g thinsulate in boots, 3.5mm neoprene. Any pros/cons, other brands? etc. (BTW, not looking to spend a fortune on them, this will be my first pair, and first real duck season). The ones I mentioned above are $174.99. Thanks

I cannot stand bootfoot waders. I use hodgeman breathable stocking foot waders in shadow grass camo. Less constrictive than neoprene and you can layer underneath per the temperature.

I've worn all types of waders but keep going back to the canvas style waders because of strength in brush and lay downs. Neoprene are warm but to me they cling to me and most of the time its not that cold here in Texas.

A heads up on canvas though I would buy a size bigger because they don't stretch like neoprene. I like a loose fitting wader that way I can get my hands inside my jacket or pockets of my jeans.

          Just my .02

I have a great pair of neoprene waders I got from Cabelas. If you really get into duck hunting a bunch, ALL waders will eventually leak. Cabelas has been great about exchanging my waders anytime there has been a problem.

Breathables are only way to go look at Simms I think they have a pair around your price range.

Breathable all the way in Texas! Lightweight, comfortable, and you won't sweat your balls off!

I love my redheads. 600gr boot and 3.5mm thinsulate. I don't like anything bigger than that for Texas. I have a great pair of socks and base layers and a good jacket and I'm set.

I don't wear the 1000gr boots. Tried em on and it's like wearing a big ol clodhopper. Hate em! If I was huntin up north I might would, but not here.

And waders with boot is the only way ill go. I've tried the stocking foot with boots and hate them. They get bunched up laces come un tied, etc. just a big pain in the butt.

You ain't gotta go out and buy a exspensive pair. And as far as canvas I don't like them. Yes they are a tougher, but don't feel right. I like the tighter fit of neoprene. Just be careful around fences and your golden.

                  Goodluck and happy hunting!

I got some cheap ones from Bass pro and they are by far the best I have ever bought. I have had them for 5 years now and not one issue.

I have neoprene with the built in 600 gram boots. I would rather be a little warm than cold. My suggestion is try them before you buy and make sure you can move around and sit without them pulling or becoming uncomfortable. Nothing is worse than uncomfortable waders all day.

I have a pair of 400 gram, 3.5mm boot foot waders that I got from BPS 7 years ago. I hunt a lot and have never had a issue.
                        I think I paid $129 back then

Ive got a pair of breathable cabelas waders and i love them.
I also have a pair of lacrosse alpha max somethings i got them a year or 2 ago. There bad to the bone. It just has to be really cold. And i still only wear blue jeans under them.
I think im fixin to look around for me a pair of canvas waders as well to work in my duck slough in the summer times and fall when i need really tough waders.

Cabelas is really good on returns. I had a pair of cabelas waders for 6 years and they got used atleast 30 days out of the season and they were faded and tore to hell and i told cabelas they had been a darn good pair of waders but they were leaking. And they gave me a full return on them. So i went and got the breathable one, since i had the lacrosse's.

Currently I use Drake EQ waders. They fit me well and I like the set up of the pockets with magnetic fasteners. The boots also have clamps to hold them tighter. They are neoprene but have a tougher outer layer. Good luck, there are plenty of options to choose from.
